Sarcastic Utterances in North Country Film as English Teaching Materials

This aim of the study is to determine sarcastic utterances in North Country film as a teaching material American Cuture course at department English Literature, Lancang Kuning University. analysis were using pragmatic approach. In collecting data, researcher used documentation type, data then analyzed through qualitative descriptive technique. The results show that there are three categories uterances found discussed, (1) Propositional sarcasm, where numbers impolite by men workers towards women (2) Lexical many positive but have negative effects, and (3) illocutionary opponents defeat main character. culture courseat Literature Study Program. students seem with enthusiasm pleasant learning atmosphere so average outcomes they achieved very satisfying.
